How do you find so many job openings each week?

While I put together the newsletter on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings, I actually keep my eyes open for job openings all week, keeping a bunch of tabs open and compiling tweets/RTing them on @WestMediaJobs on Twitter/X. I have a routine of checking LinkedIn, JournalismJobs.com, MediaBistro, PodJobs and Twitter/X, since despite everything, journalists and editors still love to use the platform! A lot of hiring managers also subscribe to the newsletter and they’re very good about sending open roles to me, which I always appreciate, especially because they usually include insights that aren’t always in the job description.

In the process of looking and collecting listings, I’m also vetting them with the newsletter reader in mind — will my subscribers be interested in these roles? Are these ghost listings or are the companies genuinely, actively hiring? And, as someone whose own mass layoff made national headlines recently, I examine if the roles are open to backfill a controversial mass layoff and look into how journalists are feeling about that before including them.
