Bonus opportunities
IRE is accepting applications for its freelance fellowships through August 28. Fellowships provide up to $2,000 for short-term projects and up to $4,000 for long-term projects, plus IRE membership, according to the organization’s website.
Grace DeGraaf tweeted, “I’m looking to fill up my fall pipeline with unique, argument-driven pieces on the economy, tech, work, education and climate! The @thisisinsider Discourse team covers the biggest questions of the day in business and the economy. 1500-2000 words.” She added, “Rates depend on scope and experience, but generally vary from $0.50/word to $1/word.”
Drew Hansen posted on LinkedIn, “Attention Virginia journalists: I am looking to hire a freelance writer to take the lead on Richmond Inno. The work involves writing two short stories a week covering the innovation community in Virginia’s capital city as well as a weekly newsletter.”
ABC7 Los Angeles is looking for “experienced television Newswriters for freelance employment,” according to a post on JournalismJobs.com. The rate is $22 to $33.50 per hour.
City Bureau tweeted, “Attention #Chicago freelancers! We are expanding our list of photographers and videographers for City Bureau events and programs.”
