📈 ‘Pitching your own professional development’: The News Product Alliance announced it’s hosting a session on “how to convince your employer to support you in learning new skills” featuring Elite Truong, VP of Product Strategy at the American Press Institute. The session is set for August 11 at 11 a.m. ET.
🤷♀️ ‘WTF is prompt engineering?’ Sara Guaglione wrote for Digiday about newsrooms experimenting with generative AI and explained the term prompt engineering as “the main way to communicate with a large language model (LLM).”
“The true skill in prompt engineering is writing prompts that get the desired output from the LLM, which can be trained on a publisher’s archives, for example,” Guaglione wrote. “It can also be directed to provide outputs with a certain tone, for specific audiences. The output is only as good as the prompts.”
