đ» âMore than 50 local newsrooms launched during the pandemicâ: Kristen Hare of Poynter wrote about a bright spot with the establishment of dozens and dozens of local newsrooms in the past couple years across 27 states and Puerto Rico.
đ âNYC companies will have to share job salaries upfrontâ: Insider reports that the New York City council passed a bill in mid-December that will start ârequiring employers to post salary ranges in job listings.â It goes into effect in April.
đ A look at some freelancers sharing rates: Chelsea Cirruzzo, now of Axios, tweeted out her rates from publications like The Lily, DCist, Nieman Reports and Teen Vogue during the first half of the year when she was freelancing. A few others even quote tweeted her post with some of their own experiences.
đ âHow to get on an editorâs âregularsâ rosterâ: Tim Herrera recently republished one of his most popular newsletter editions from 2020, which includes a Q&A with journalist Anna Goldfarb.
âWe cover strategies on everything from sharpening pitches and finding work to building stronger relationships with editors,â Herrera wrote.
