The American Press Institute announced it is accepting applications for “up to $10,000 in grants to up to 20 local and community-based news organizations to help them strengthen civic discourse in their community.” Apply by August 21.
ProPublica is accepting applications for its Emerging Reporters Program, which “provides $9,000 stipends, along with mentoring and a trip to a journalism conference, such as the Investigative Reporters & Editors conference, to five students each year who work or want to work at college journalism outlets,” according to a LinkedIn post. Apply by August 21.
Allie Sadlier of The Daily Beast tweeted, “We are looking for a freelance writer with a background reporting on reality TV, competition shows or similar to create a branded content piece about a reality competition series.” Sadlier added, “Pay: $750 [for] ~750 word article with original reporting.”
Rheana Murray tweeted, “A reminder that my inbox is open for essay submissions at @TODAYshow! Looking for personal pieces of ~1K words about parenting, health and more.” Murray added, “We typically pay $350 for essays.”
