Happy Tuesday! Skim for your weekly roundup of jobs, industry readings, resources and more.
💻 ‘Aiming for 500,000 subscribers by 2026, AJC takes a big swing on growth’: Sophie Culpepper wrote for Nieman Lab that The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is eyeing a big expansion with “plans to hire about 100 people — expanding the newsroom and adding positions across product development, technology, design, analytics and marketing.”
🎧 ‘The worst parts of job searching’: Phoebe Gavin, a career and leadership coach, spoke with Anne Helen Petersen on the Work Appropriate podcast about “the absolute slog that is searching, applying and interviewing for a new job.”
💡 ‘Another job-hunting pro-tip’: Rhema Thompson Bland, Deputy Director of News Talent Acquisition & Development for McClatchy, shared a few thoughtful pieces of advice on LinkedIn about networking in journalism.
“There’s an old adage in fundraising spheres: ‘If you want money, ask for advice,’” she wrote. “The same rule applies in the job-hunting.”
📝 ‘The art of structuring a long-form feature’: Tim Herrera announced in his Freelancing With Tim newsletter that he’s hosting virtual events, including one on Wednesday at 4 p.m. where participants will deconstruct a narrative story and walk away with new tools to use in their own writing. Tickets go for $15.
