🙅♀️ ‘How to say no to busywork and supercharge your career’: Rachel Feintzeig wrote for The Wall Street Journal about how to prioritize the work that you care about at your job and tactfully stop doing tasks that won’t get you that next promotion.
“Women are asked 44% more often than men to do ‘nonpromotable work,’ and they’re 50% more likely to say yes, according to a study from Lise Vesterlund, an economist at the University of Pittsburgh, and her co-authors of a book about avoiding dead-end work,” Feintzeig wrote. “Requests for employees of color to help fix companies’ diversity and equity failings, often without additional compensation, skyrocketed after a national conversation on race in 2020, coaches told me.”
👀 ‘Get in loser, we’re selling out’: The subject line for Alex Sujong Laughlin’s latest Cohort newsletter definitely stopped me in my tracks and gives us all a lot to mull over about our relationships with the creator economy, “selling out” and just affording the basics of life.
🧵 A thread on time management: Emma Carew Grovum, newsroom consultant and trainer, kicked off an excellent thread where about 20 people shared their time management tips ranging from keeping those 1:1 meetings to making time for future planning to saying no to last-minute meetings.
Thanks for reading!
