Happy Monday! Skim for your weekly roundup of jobs, industry readings, resources and more.
‘Now what?! Journalists talk post-election coverage plans’: The Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW) scheduled a webinar for November 19 featuring journalists from The Washington Post, Politico and The Wall Street Journal.
The group will “cover how newsrooms and journalists are planning for the aftermath of the 2024 elections,” according to SABEW’s event page.
‘Presidential candidate endorsements boost subscriber conversions and donations at some publishers’: Sara Guaglione wrote for Digiday that the Guardian and The Philadelphia Inquirer both saw increases in revenue after their endorsements.
“By Oct. 28, U.S. readers had pledged roughly $1.8 million to the Guardian, according to a company spokesperson. The Guardian brought in $485,000 in reader donations that Friday, a U.S. daily fundraising record,” Guaglione wrote. “Saturday brought in even more — $619,000 in reader donations.”
+ From Axios: “WaPo subscribers flee en masse after Bezos’ endorsement decision”
‘The little sins we commit at work — and the bosses who are cracking down’: Callum Borchers wrote for The Wall Street Journal about how “companies are strictly enforcing rules to show who’s in charge and control expenses.”
