‘Local news is in crisis. This paper has a $150 million plan.’ David Folkenflik wrote for NPR about the president and publisher’s plans for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, including expanding the business and deepening coverage in the areas of politics, sports and Black culture.
“In a hopeful sign, the newspaper is doing something rare among its kind: It’s adding staffers,” Folkenflik wrote. “By the end of this year, the Journal-Constitution will have added nearly 100 more people than when [the president and publisher] started, an increase of about a quarter. (That takes into account a handful of layoffs and buyouts this year.)”
