‘Investigative Reporting Now–OSINT and other cutting-edge tools and techniques’: The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is hosting a course for $95 where students “will learn about the latest techniques for gathering information and disseminating it, including Open Source Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, satellite imagery and various forms of data journalism,” according to the course description.
The course — led by Lise Olsen, Investigations Editor at the Texas Observer — starts September 23 and runs through October 20.
‘Pulling back the curtain on what happens on election night’: Leaders from The Associated Press will join a free American Press Institute webinar on September 26 for “a discussion on AP’s unique role in U.S. elections and how you can help your newsroom prepare for Election Day and beyond,” according to the event description.
‘Journo job pro-tips’ and ‘the art of the follow-up’: Rhema Thompson Bland, Deputy Director of News Talent Acquisition & Development for McClatchy, shared some thoughtful advice on LinkedIn about keeping up with recruiters after conference season.
