Navigating newsletters and predictions on what's next in news
Happy Monday! Skim for your weekly roundup of jobs, industry readings, resources and more.
📧 ‘Lean into what your core audiences value’: Olivia Dolan interviewed Jacqué Palmer, Senior Editorial Director for Newsletters at The Boston Globe, as part of a Q&A for the Reynolds Journalism Institute. Palmer discussed everything from how to connect with an audience to how approach experimentation.
👀 ‘Learn to predict the news like a futurist’: The News Product Alliance is hosting a community call with Sam Guzik, Senior Director of Product Management for New York Public Radio (and a previous colleague of mine), on Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET.
Community members who attend will “find out more about the predictions for news and information included in the Future Today Institute’s 2024 Tech Trends Report,” according to NPA’s event description.
🙌 ‘Make your triumphs last’: Rachel Feintzeig wrote for The Wall Street Journal about how “we can get better at riding the roller coaster of our careers, learning to sustain our vigor and creativity no matter where we are on the track.”
+ Also from The Wall Street Journal: “My dream break from work wasn’t what I expected”

P.S. Here are a few things that fueled this newsletter/me this week:
📖 ‘The story of the journalism jobs market’: I spoke with Feven Merid of the Columbia Journalism Review about trends in the job market and how this newsletter got started.
😋 ‘Crisp gnocchi with sausage and peas’: Tried this New York Times recipe and it worked out pretty well! Just swapped in chicken sausage and added more cheese.
