📈 ‘How do you approach local vs. national SEO?’ Katie Vogel, a former colleague of mine who now works at the Associated Press, shared thoughtful and directly actionable search insights for journalists in a recent Q&A with the
newsletter.“If we do headlines, story selection and handle our products well, we don’t just do good SEO, we’re doing great journalism,” Vogel said. “Connecting those dots and making it less about SEO as a buzzword, but more about search as empathy with our readers.”
📆 ‘The lowdown on taxes for freelance journalists’: The SPJ freelance community will be hosting a free webinar on “what to look out for when filing taxes as a freelancer” featuring a certified public accountant. The session is set for December 13 at 7 p.m. ET.
