Trainings for newsletters and navigating freelance life
Happy Monday! Skim for your weekly roundup of jobs, industry readings, resources and more.
‘Newsletters 2.0: Strategies to delight audiences and grow revenue’: The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas is hosting a course for $95 where students “will learn strategies for how to enhance their news organization’s email newsletter strategy by developing products that appeal to audiences and generate revenue,” according to the course description.
The course — led by Emily Roseman of INN, Joseph Lichterman of The Lenfest Institute for Journalism and Caroline Porter of the National Trust for Local News — starts today and runs through October 4.
‘Solopreneur workshop: A checklist for your transition’: The American Society of Business Publication Editors is hosting a webinar on September 19 with freelance writer Jen A. Miller, who runs the Notes from a Hired Pen newsletter, and Diane Sears, author and Founder and President of DiVerse Media.
The session, which is $10 or free for ASBPE members, will “workshop a smooth transition from a publication staffer to independent contract journalism business,” according to ASBPE.
