🧘♀️ ‘5 steps to managing the nervous system’: Journalist and Mental Wellness Coach Leslie Rangel is hosting an hourlong virtual workshop where she says she’ll teach “practical tools to help overcome stress and understand the role of the nervous system, your brain and feeling more in control.”
The session is scheduled for July 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
🧠 ‘Multitasking is killing your mental capacity. Here’s how to adjust.’ Samantha Ragland, Vice President of Journalism Programs at the American Press Institute, recently shared a helpful exercise for newsroom leaders to get out of the daily slog of emails and Slacks and start smartly organizing their time in a way that better serves their mental capacity and their team.
🐍 Want to learn R or Python? Todd Wallack of WBUR shared a thread on Twitter about a question he fielded at IRE about getting started with R or Python.
Wallack tweeted about multiple websites, books and video clips for those interested in learning to code, but noted “most journalists don’t need to learn a coding language to do #datajournalism. You could do 95% of stories with spreadsheets or a database program.”
