Tips for making big career changes and how to navigate burnout
Happy Monday! Skim for your weekly roundup of jobs, industry readings, resources and more.
đ â6 tips for making a career change, from someone who has done itâ: NPR resurfaced this Life Kit piece by audio producer Keisha âTKâ Dutes on how to prepare yourself for and navigate through a major career shift.
âIt doesnât start off so easy. It takes an immense mindset shift, planning, and decision making that will affect you and the people around you,â Dutes wrote.
đ Tips for freelancers on rates: Freelancer Kaitlyn Arford created this great six-page Google Doc with advice for freelancers on how to negotiate rates and contracts. (And if you find the Doc valuable, you can buy Arford a virtual coffee.)
đ© âHow to beat burnout â without quitting your jobâ: Catherine Zuckerman wrote for NYT about strategies for working through burnout, including being kinder to yourself, delegating if you can and seeking help.
âYouâre not alone. The pandemic has left many people fried from trying to juggle work, parenting, caregiving and other responsibilities without enough support,â Zuckerman wrote.

P.S. Here are a few things that fueled this newsletter/me this week:
đ» âWhat the Tulsa Race Massacre destroyedâ: The New York Timesâ interactive illustrates in detail what happened on a âmarquee block [that] was the pulse of the Black business community.â
đ€ Meet Doomscrolling Reminder Bot: Itâs definitely worth following Karen K. Hoâs new bot for regular reminders to drink enough water, get some sleep and relax those shoulders.
đ¶ Someone turned 4 this week! I bought Maggie a stuffed duck, and she and Goose promptly destroyed it.
