Editor’s note: I’m taking some much needed time to recharge. This newsletter will be off next week, but I’ll be back in your inboxes on Monday, October 3!
Happy Monday! Skim for your weekly roundup of jobs, industry readings, resources and more.
💰 ‘Job switchers are earning a lot more than those who stay’: Julia Carpenter wrote this summer for The Wall Street Journal about how “even if you’re happy at your job, getting a new job for more pay is a good strategy as inflation eats into paychecks.”
💻 ‘How to land a journalism internship in Washington, D.C.’: The National Press Club Journalism Institute will host a Q&A panel featuring internship coordinators from NPR, the Dow Jones News Fund and C-SPAN on Friday, September 23, at 2 p.m. ET.
👀 ‘Your career is just one-eighth of your life’: The headline alone on this piece stopped me in my tracks. Derek Thompson wrote for The Atlantic about “five pieces of career advice, shaped by economics, psychology and a little bit of existential math.”
Thanks for reading!

P.S. Here are a few things that fueled this newsletter/me this week:
👶 Some personal news: Maggie and Sam are getting a (human) sibling! We’re having a baby in January 2023. Incredibly grateful for all the love and support.
😆 ‘What do you want? Gave you treats’: I loved this snippet from reporter Gwendolyn Wu where she accidentally recorded and transcribed herself talking to her dog.
🐶 This wedding cake made me squeal: There are so many other awesome ones in the comments too.
