The risks and rewards of memoir’: Mallary Tenore Tarpley wrote for Nieman Storyboard about “lessons learned as she revisited the realities of her mother’s death and her own eating disorder” while writing her book. She shared tips on interviewing family members, what to consider when writing about family and more.
❓ ‘So, what’s a good raise right now?’ Julia Carpenter of The Wall Street Journal was back at it again last week with some data and expert insights on wage growth as inflation spiked this year.
“As of May 2022, the median annual wage growth for employees who stay at their jobs was 4.5%, according to the latest data from the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta,” Carpenter wrote.

📝 ‘Expecting a bad performance review? Here’s how to prepare.’ Executive career transition coach and speaker Susan Peppercorn wrote for the Harvard Business Review about how “by preemptively taking action if you expect to receive a bad performance review, you may be able to steer a different course for yourself and avoid a foregone conclusion — or at least feel better about the outcome.”
