3 ways to prepare questions for an interview

While interview processes are largely focused on questions for the candidate, many hiring managers and recruiters will also make time for job seekers to ask them about the position or company.

Here’s a few ways to prepare questions that help you get the insights you need about an organization and also show that you have a deep understanding of the role and the business.

Explore the footer

After exploring a news organization’s coverage, it can also help to scroll down to the bottom of the homepage and peruse an often overlooked part of the site — the footer.

There, newsrooms will often share mission statements, about us pages and standards or ethical best practices. Some may also publish diversity, equity and inclusion reports and career or job pages that speak to their culture.

Nonprofit organizations may further have impact reports, information about their boards, funding sources or 990 tax forms to shed further light on their business practices.

Footers also often reflect important products such as newsletters, an app or verticals that make it easier to sign up for or review key initiatives.

All this information serves as fodder for questions or observations that can be brought to the interview stage.
